Cleaning

Remove salts, oil and grease before they undermine adhesion or accelerate corrosion.

Cleaning

Industrial cleaning before blasting and coating

The challenge

Dust, salt, oil, grease and other petroleum residues sooner or later cause trouble — accelerating corrosion or undermining adhesion.

Our approach

Biodegradable, green solutions to remove rust and clean steel before blasting — including hydrojetting, a strong fit ahead of surface-tolerant coatings.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Why clean steel before blasting or coating?

Oil, grease and soluble salts left on steel end up trapped under the coating. Oils stop the coating from bonding, and salts draw moisture through the film, causing blistering and under-film corrosion. Cleaning first stops blasting from spreading contamination and gives the coating a sound surface to bond to.

What is hydrojetting?

Hydrojetting (water jetting) uses water at very high pressure to remove contaminants, loose rust and old coatings without abrasive media. Because it also washes away soluble salts, it is a common choice before surface-tolerant coatings. ISO 8501-4 describes the surface conditions and flash-rust grades after water jetting.

How do you check steel for soluble salts?

The usual method is a Bresle patch (ISO 8502-6): a small adhesive cell is filled with deionised water, the surface is washed inside it, and the conductivity of the water is measured (ISO 8502-9). The result is compared with the limit in the coating specification.
